Bachelor of Science in Family Studies The Bachelor of Science in Family Studies degree program is designed to give classroom instruction and field supervision are facilitated by experienced professionals in psychology, sociology, social work and education. The program includes 44 credit hours of course work, group interaction, social research and an internship experience. Upon completion of the program students will learn a bachelor of science degree in Psychology: Family Studies. Family Studies graduates often seek careers in lay ministries, self-employment and public and private social service agencies.
Bachelor of Arts in Family Support Studies Edmonds Community College offers the bachelor of Arts in family Support Studies degree program. This program helps prepare students for a career in a variety of community, state and federal human service agencies, foundations or educational settings. Some of the core upper division credits of the HD degree include Research Approaches to Human Development, Public Policy Issues Facing Families and Individuals, Application of HD Theories, and an Internship.
Bachelor of Arts in Child and Family Studies The Bachelor of Arts in Child Studies is designed to develop understanding of children and their needs. Students gain knowledge of the intellectual, physical, social and emotional principles critical to working with children. The curriculum of this program includes courses on nutrition, family relations, developing age appropriate curriculum, child development and assessment, psychology and parenting. Students will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge through practical experiences in a variety of settings through the required internship.
Bachelor of Science in Family Studies The Bachelor of Science in Family Studies & Children Development program is designed to provide a comprehensive educational curriculum taught from an ecological perspective. The curriculum of the program provides students a solid understanding and knowledge of how to teach and/or develop curriculum for varied settings. The program features a multi-cultural perspective that helps families and individuals interface with a diverse and changing global community. Students explore relationships among individuals, families and their environment and culture with the goal of improving quality of life within communities and society at large. Students who complete this degree pursue careers in family life education found throughout health care, religious, social service, military, and corporate settings.
