Bachelor Of Environmental Sciences

 

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies degree is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in environmental policy and analysis as well as environment management dealing with a range of environmental issues to include stewardship of natural resources, pollution management, fish and wildlife management, and hazardous materials. The program requires course work in both the natural and social sciences, with a particular focus on the complex relationship among science, management, and policy. The ultimate purpose of the degree program is to provide students with a scientific understanding of ecological and social systems, which then can be applied in a policy or management context.

 

Bachelor of Science in Energy Management

This online four-year degree program is designed to educate energy workers to move into supervisory and management positions. To enroll in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy Management program, a student must have completed an Associate in Applied Science (AAS), Certificate or Diploma in an accredited and approved program in an energy technology related field. Career opportunities in this field are projected to be plentiful because of growth in the energy industry and anticipated retirements of many long-time employees in the next five to 10 years.

 

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resource Management

Environmental Resource Management is an interdisciplinary major that includes coursework in the areas of physical and life sciences related to natural resource use, the legal aspects of resource ownership and use, and the economic and political aspects of resource allocation and environmental protection. The program also includes basic skills courses in areas such as communications, computers, statistics, and management. The ERM major is of sufficient breadth to prepare graduates for entry into a wide range of careers relating to the use, management, and protection of environmental assets. These careers are in areas such as resource analysis and planning, environmental health, compliance, technical and environmental staff support, permitting, and real estate development. The online ERM program is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and articulates with community college Environmental Technology programs developed under the Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE) umbrella.

 

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Management equips students with a foundation in federal EPA and state environmental rules and regulations. Students are presented concepts reviewing environmental principles, resource use and protection. Students enrolled in this program will acquire practical skills related to industrial waste, solid waste and hazardous waste management along with the appropriate techniques, technology and measures for minimizing air, soil and water pollution. This degree program prepares students for employment in the corporate, industrial, consulting, or regulatory environmental compliance, control, or remediation professions.

 

Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies in Environmental Studies

The Environmental Studies concentration within the BS/BA degree in Liberal Studies prepares students for a broad range of environmental careers. Career opportunities for graduates could be found in state and federal agencies, or in numerous private agencies or corporations. Most positions in environmental studies ask for a generalist who is able to deal with specialists from many areas of academics. It is also expected that such a generalist have her/his own area of expertise. The core curriculum is designed to train students in the broad area of environmental studies so that a student is able to deal with many areas of the field.

 

Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy

This undergraduate program in Environmental Theory and Policy offers an opportunity to explore those aspects of political institutions which affect the development and management of natural resources and the environment. You will learn about renewable resources such as food, forests and water, and resources in fixed supply such as land and minerals. Students gain a sufficient background in the natural and physical sciences and sufficient training in basic mathematics, statistics, and communication skills in order to approach resource-related issues in an effective and practical manner. Graduates are prepared to undertake a career in public or private agencies and firms engaged in the planning or management of natural resources, or to enter a graduate school for further study in programs such as economics, law, public policy, business, or resources administration.

 

Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Meteorology

The Broadcast Meteorology Program is primarily designed for individuals working as broadcast meteorologists who need additional formal education in meteorology, though this program students come from many other professions. The program provides the education and the knowledge needed to be a broadcast meteorologist, to earn the National Weather Association Seal of Approval, and to satisfy the departmental requirements for the B.S. degree in Geoscience from MSU.

 

Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management

The Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources degree provides a foundation in the earth and life sciences. This program provides graduates with a breadth and depth of technical and scientific knowledge spanning various natural resource and social science disciplines. Our students learn about social, economic and political influences on resource use and environmental policy, and how to problem-solve when faced with sensitive natural resource issues in an atmosphere of diverse opinions. Students in this major can expect to find employment with state and federal government agencies or with private consultants, and in environmental policy analysis and management of natural resources, and with natural resources firms. Many students may find it desirable to obtain a graduate degree. Students completing this degree will be prepared for graduate study in environmental and natural resource economics and policy.

 

Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying/Mapping Sciences
The Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying/ Mapping Science degree program is designed to produce graduates who can quickly adapt to the work environment. The curriculum of the program helps students to design experiments and conduct experiments as well as analyze data and interpret data. After completing of this program students will have an ability to formulate or design a system, process or program to meet desired needs and to identify and solve applied science problems. Also our graduates will acquire knowledge of contemporary issues. Students at graduation will have ability to use the techniques, skills, modern scientific and technical tools necessary for professional practice.
