Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology is a social science degree, in which students study human beings as they relate to each other and operate in groups. They examine the research, theories, and history of various social issues such as religion, corrections, politics and public health. Graduates of this program are inclined to professions that involve politics, government civil service, health care, Child and Family support services, general public or private management, and law. Throughout the program, students learn to explore classic and contemporary sociological theories, examine sociological research ethics and practice, identify the influence of culture on urban and rural societies, and other skills.

 

Bachelor of Arts in International Relations

The Bachelor of Arts in International Relations degree program gives students an understanding of the world and analyzes the nature of modern global relationships. The program provides students with opportunity to debate and explore global economies, societies and cultures through the study of past lessons learned in politics, economics, culture and history. This undergraduate program focuses on the central concerns of international relations - diplomacy, foreign policy analysis, international organizations, global development and international relations theory. Students study the possibility of another world war and explore ways to prevent it. This major provides an excellent foundation for careers in government agencies, the diplomatic service, international organizations, world trade, and finance and international media. Students can choose from a number of available concentration options the specialization, which interest them the most. The concentrations include International Studies curriculum, Comparative Politics, Peacekeeping, African Studies, Asian Studies, European Studies, and Latin American Studies.

 

Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

Sociology is the study of social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology provides students with training in written communication, computer skills, statistics and research methods, and offers a wide variety of substantive courses on contemporary social issues ranging from crime to population trends, and courses on social institutions, such as the family, education and religion. Sociology Bachelor’s degree can be pursued either on Tempe Campus or completely online. Sociology online classes are extremely dynamic and interactive and utilize Blackboard as a learning platform.
