Masters Degree in Information Systems

The Master of Computer Science in Information Systems degree program is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the principles of the design and development of information systems. Students must satisfy general Master of Computer Science requirements and are also required to select four of the following specialization courses.

 

Masters Degree in Information Technology

The Master of Information Technology & Management degree program is designed primarily for working professionals who seek a hands-on, laboratory based program to broaden and deepen their knowledge of new and emerging information technologies, the application and integration of these technologies, and the administrative practices used in the effective management of these technologies. The Master's degree program may be completed through evening and weekend coursework and/or entirely via online courses. If the program is completed online, a smaller number of specializations will be available.

 

Masters Degree in Information Science and Technology
The Master of Information Science program will train you to understand and analyze the role of information systems in solving organizational problems and achieving organizational goals. The focus of the program is on designing information systems to help people and organizations function more effectively. The MIS degree will qualify you to pursue a number of careers, including systems analyst, software support analyst, technical support analyst, policy analyst, database administrator, data manager, information network technician, development tester, software engineer, programmer/analyst, workforce planner/engineer, research assistant, director of instructional services, taxonomist/information architect, and integrated library system administrator.

 

Masters Degree in Geographic Information Technology

The Geographic Information Technology program is designed for working professionals who want to leverage their technical expertise to attain a leadership position within their respective institutions. The curriculum offers an integrated set of core courses that includes both a broad exposure to technical knowledge and the application of geographic information systems and the organizational and managerial context of geospatial information and technology.

 

Masters Degree in Information Systems

The Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology program online at South University is designed to provide students with skills necessary to excel beyond computing degrees and technical experience. Designed to meet the needs of working adults, the Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology program online at South University provides students with education relevant to advancing their career. Pursuing unique professional goals or striving to meet the needs of the organization for which they work, students of the Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology program online at South University will be provided with the potential to advance into middle and upper level technical and managerial roles in information infrastructure and systems.

 

Masters Degree in Information Technology
The Master of Science in Information Technology prepares students to respond to the basic challenges, such as: * increasing the productivity and creativity of managers and executives who work with information resources; * planning the effective use of information and communication technologies within organizations; * developing corporate and government policies to maximize the benefits resulting from the widespread use of these technologies; and * improving the strategic use and management of information resources in business, government, and nonprofit organizations. The program teaches students to analyze information needs, design organizational structures, evaluate information technology approaches, provide human resource support, and develop management strategies to meet organizational needs as they evolve over time. Graduates of the program are qualified to work in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations in a multitude of capacities. The 42-credit program provides students with a broad range of information management perspectives, skills, and knowledge for strategic management of information resources. The information management program is offered in both an on-campus and distance learning format.

 

Masters Degree in Distributed Object-Oriented Analysis & Design

The Master in Distributed Object-Oriented Analysis and Design degree program is designed to help you build the skills necessary to develop quality object-oriented software programs and applications. Students will develop a breadth of knowledge related to software engineering, project management, operating systems, databases, client-server computing, and enterprise architecture.

 

Masters Degree in Information Systems

The Masters of Information Systems program is focused on the acquisition of information technology theory and the application of theory and practice to real world business opportunities and challenges. The courses provide current theory and knowledge of essential information technology. While courses examine a broad range of information technology resources, the courses emphasize the management of such resources in order to meet an organization's challenges and goals. The program has five main threads: (1) Business Systems Analysis and Design; (2) Programming Management; (3) Databases; (4) Network and Telecommunications; (5) The Web.

 

Masters Degree in Information Technology

The Graduate Program in Information Technology is a combined degree offered collaboratively by Virginia Tech's College of Engineering, and Pamplin College of Business. The program is an innovative blend of coursework in five related IT modules: networking, software development, information security, business information systems and decision support systems. Virginia Tech's IT faculty have real world experience combined with cutting edge knowledge of industry trends. Each module is updated regularly to reflect industry trends.
