MBA - General Management

If you'd like to advance from an entry or mid-level management position to one of a higher lever, an MBA in management can be a valuable tool to making that dream a reality. Companies often rely on managers to ensure that personnel and resources are being used to the full advantage and many are in search of individuals that have the training and expertise to make their enterprises run smoothly. These managers play an essential role in making sure that both day-to-day happenings and the long term success of the company are assured.

Degree programs for MBAs in management will give students a firm foundation in the basic principles of business and management through courses in leadership, finance, business ethics, conflict management and much more. Students will also get the chance to take a series of courses that focus on higher level management issues like risk management, recruitment, management economics, strategy and business operations. Of course, opportunities will be available to further fine tune your degree program as well, with course offerings that cater to industry-specific needs that can prepare you to manage in fields like real estate, entertainment, IT, healthcare and much more. The combination of all of these types of courses should leave graduates with the business know-how, leadership chops and general knowledge to effectively manage and supervise other individuals, finances and other business resources. Students should expect it to take about two years to complete a program of this nature, but in some cases, especially with online schools, it can be finished in less.

Graduates of an MBA program in management will be prepared for management careers in a wide variety of industries. Students who have chosen to take specialty courses during the time they were enrolled should find themselves well-prepared to take on positions within areas that interest them, whether they are within a corporation, government institution or smaller business. Because there is such a wide range of possible careers with a degree in management, giving an idea of post-graduation salary can be complicated as well. While there is no guarantee of a high salary upon graduation, average entry level salary for managers is around $60,000 a year, but it can vary widely by location, experience and industry. In general, management positions are plentiful depending on the kind of work you'd like to do, as managers are essential to the daily operations of most businesses. This can make it a promising and stable career field to enter, especially with a higher level degree.
