Curriculum in Legal Studies

Law influences the society in every aspect .Legal studies are   the study of the society and law. Many US schools and colleges offer courses in legal studies under master's and bachelor's degree programs. This field involves studying different laws of the society .This course may   be of extreme interest to those individuals who have interest in political debates and issues of the society. 

 

An individual has to  attend an accredited institute in specialized courses  of study When he/she earns an undergraduate degree  may enroll in a law program spanning around three years of studies on  completion of  law school, He /she has to clear the state bar exam to get a legal license of practicing as a lawyer . A law degree allows individuals to face the practical scenario of legal world.

A course for undergraduate major in legal studies is based on four years. The curriculum covers the law and its relationship with culture, institutions, justice and politics. A thesis or an internship may also be a part of undergraduate program.

Job options in Legal Studies

A Law degree enables an individual to commence a career in the legal field. People can find employment in the fields of law enforcement, government and social work.

 

This field attracts those individuals who possess legal research and professional skills.

Individuals can be employed as a paralegal. Paralegals do not need a bachelor's degree for an employment. However, as the field broadens up more competitive and additional education will be a part of requirement for a job.

 

Paralegals assist attorneys to prepare. The annual median salary of a Paralegal is recorded as $46,120 .The influx in this field is growing faster and more people are switching to this field.

 

Paralegals can also be employed in fields such as banks, corporations, insurance companies, real estate etc. Many business organizations may hire paralegals to perform the work of higher-paid attorneys.

 

Students who earn a degree in legal studies may also find a career as a police officer or detective, as a probation officer at state or local public agencies.

 

Careers Requiring Additional Education

Legal studies students who seek a career in social work will have to add an additional degree of masters in their qualification .A masters program is an extension of approximately two years.
