Degree & Programs In Mechanical Engineering
Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering The Master of Mechanical Engineering degree program allows students to pursue their career at home or work site through its DVD and computer-based distance education delivery scheme. Such a program option combines elements of traditional instruction with modern day delivery methods to extend educational opportunity beyond the limits of campus, allowing students to improve their educational credentials without disrupting their career or relocating their family. The Master of Mechanical Engineering degree program is a non-thesis graduate program preparing students to work as mechanical engineers to design and operate machinery and predict machine behavior in industries such as transportation, power generation, energy conversion, environmental control, materials processing and materials.
Associate in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology The Mechanical Engineering Technology Program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment as a technician or for transfer to a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Both the day and evening programs are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET). The curriculum includes a strong emphasis on the generation of production level computer based documentation, analysis of form, fit and function, and design verification through vigorous testing. Graduates will be able to: solve technical problems typical of those encountered in mechanical engineering technology careers using creativity, current technology, and the principles of mathematics and applied science; perform, and evaluate laboratory experiments, interpret and report on the results, and make recommendations for improvements; work and communicate effectively in a diverse multi-disciplinary team in an industrial and academic setting; and understand modern quality principles, professional issues, and the need to pursue lifelong learning. There are two choices available to students in this degree program: • Machine Design Program • Computer Assisted Product Design Concentration
Graduate Certificate in Engineering Mechanics The Engineering Mechanics graduate certificate program allows working professionals to keep current with the rapid pace of technological changes in the area of engineering mechanics and to earn a graduate certificate in their field of interest. Furthermore, this program provides students with the opportunity to improve their academic record for possible admission to the MS degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. All courses are available over the Internet. The certificate program consists of four courses delivered as part of the MS degree program in Engineering Mechanics. The curriculum of the program is designed to cover such topics as continuum mechanics, solid mechanics, stability, fracture mechanics, composites, fatigue analysis, plates, shells, and laminated composites.
Graduate Certificate in CAD/CAM & Rapid Product Realization The graduate certificate in CAD/CAM & Rapid Product Realization is designed for working professionals who want to stay ahead of rapidly changing technology. The program consists of a four-course sequence from existing graduate-level courses. Students are admitted to the certificate program with a non-matriculated status. For successful completion of the program, students need to have a grade of 3.0 or better in their core courses. Students, who complete the four-course sequence with a grade of B or better in each of the courses taken, may be admitted to the master's degree program, if they choose. The certificate credits the student earned will count toward his/her master's degree.
Graduate Certificate in Composite Materials and Structures The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering proposes the graduate certificate program in Composite Materials and Structures intended for engineers working in areas related to design, manufacture and development of composite material structures. The proposed program would enable working professionals to enhance their knowledge and keep current with technological changes in the area of composites. Earning a graduate certificate in Composite Materials and Structures will not only provide students the opportunity to strengthen their academic background, but also offer the possibility of pursuing an MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Graduate Certificate in Control Systems The Control Systems graduate certificate program is designed for working engineers to enhance knowledge and provide current information on technological changes in the area of control systems. Earning a graduate certificate not only provides students the opportunity to strengthen their academic background, but also offers the possibility of pursuing a master's degree in the aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering programs.
Master of Arts in Mechanical Engineering The Mechanical Engineering program is intended for those who want pursue an engineering related career with a hands-on, practical approach. The emphasis in the Mechanical Engineering program is placed on understanding how engineering principles are applied in practice rather than on the mathematical methods used in the derivation of new technologies. At the same time, the program goes beyond the teaching of current procedures, so that the graduates are enabled to adapt to the changing needs of industry. The graduates of this program find careers in lots of technological fields, including plant operations and management, quality assurance, product and manufacturing systems design, testing and evaluation, technical sales, and environmental testing and enforcement.
Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering As business and industry continually turn to technology for creative solutions to everyday efficiency and productivity problems, the need for Mechanical Engineering Technicians grows. Through this program you will learn: • Technology Orientation and Technical Mathematics • Engineering Mechanics and Mechanical Design • Fluid Mechanics and Technical Writing • Drafting
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering The University of North Dakota offers students to earn the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. This degree program prepares students for the responsible practice of professional engineering and provides them with the necessary skills to advance their mechanical engineering career. They will receive a well-rounded education that emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills. Our graduates are able to possess the technical, leadership, and communication skills for entry-level positions in the power, aircraft, automotive, defense, or other industries.
