Dual Degree in Industrial and Management Engineering

The online MBA/MSE in Industrial Engineering concurrent degree is designed for working professionals who have an undergraduate engineering, science, or mathematics degree and one year of work experience, and who are beginning to take on management responsibilities. This degree is also for managers who want to stay current in their area of expertise and sense the need to develop enhanced business acumen. Students typically remain employed while they are in the program. The degree program requires 56 credit hours of study over three years, including eight courses from the MBA program and eight courses from the MSE program. The participants of the program usually represent retail, supply chain/logistics, financial, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications, semiconductor, and defense industry sectors, providing a diverse and rich culture for exchanging ideas and strategies.

 

Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering

The Industrial Engineering program at ASU is among the top 20 programs in the nation as ranked by U.S. News & World Report. The world class faculty consistently receives awards for teaching and research excellence and faculty members serve on numerous editorial and professional society boards. Over 65 graduates hold teaching positions at universities worldwide and many more occupy leadership positions in industry. The department emphasizes three primary areas of study - information systems engineering/management systems engineering, operations research and production systems, and quality and reliability engineering. Specialty programs in international logistics and semiconductor manufacturing are also offered. The overall educational objective of graduate study in industrial engineering is to improve each student’s ability to understand, analyze, and resolve problems within complex organizations. Industrial engineers must develop qualitative and quantitative abilities to assist management in such diverse organizations as banks, government, hospitals, military, and manufacturing operations.

 

Master of Arts in Industrial Engineering

Graduate study is offered in the Department of Industrial Engineering leading to a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. The M.S. (Thesis Option) is a research-oriented degree, and serves to prepare students for positions in industry or government or for further graduate study in industrial and systems engineering or related areas. The M.S. (Non-Thesis Option) is designed to prepare students for positions in business and industry that require a graduate education.

 

Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering

The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering offers distance students the opportunity to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering with a concentration in Industrial Engineering. The PhD is designed to prepare individuals for advanced industrial and systems engineering practice, research, and teaching.

 

Graduate Certificate in Explosives Engineering

The Explosives Engineering graduate certificate program is designed to provide formalized education in the area of Explosives Engineering. Throughout the program, students will be exposed to the theoretical and practical approaches of explosives engineering; to the analysis and design of explosive-related systems and both natural and built structure effects.

The Industrial Process Technology Certificate program is designed for people who seek entry-level operator's job in a process plant. There are hundreds of process plants in the United States. There are very few institutions in the country that provide training for entry-level workers for process plants. Process plants are operated by highly skilled process operators. In process plants, usually there are three or four operator-position levels. This course is designed to prepare a person to apply for an entry-level job.
