Degree & Programs In Civil Engineering

Associate in Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology

The Civil Engineering Technology Program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment with architectural firms, engineering consulting firms, construction management firms, surveyors, contracting firms, residential builders, and with federal, state, county, and city governments. The diverse curriculum allows for students to gain specialized training for careers in architecture, construction, facility management, and surveying. Graduates may also transfer directly to a bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Surveying, or Architecture. Both the day and evening programs are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET).

Graduate Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering

The Geological Engineering graduate program proposes to provide a four-course on-line distance education certificate program to provide formalized engineering education to practitioners in geology, geological engineering, mining engineering, and geotechnical engineering. Students enrolled in this program, will take the following 300 level courses: Engineering Geology and Geotechnics, Rock Engineering, Intermediate Subsurface Hydrogeology and Cont. Trans. Mechs.; Intermediate Soil Mechanics or Rock Mechanics II.

Master of Engineering in Geotechnical Engineering

Missouri University of Science and Technology is one of the top geotechnology schools in the country. Its online master of engineering in geotechnics is an interdisciplinary program with a practice-oriented project requirement. Geotechnics combines both the fields of soil mechanics and rock mechanics with engineering to form a comprehensive program of study. It requires 30 credit hours of coursework to complete, with a minimum of 15 credit hours of geological engineering courses. Students take courses in geology and geotechnics, soil mechanics, rock mechanics and subsurface hydrology. In addition, courses in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geological engineering, geology and geophysics and mining engineering may be applied toward the geotechnics degree.
