Certificate Program in Administrative Support The Administrative Support Specialist certificate program will prepare the student for entering a business environment to become an office professional. Throughout the program, the student will develop skills in touch keyboarding and applications, electronic office procedures, word processing, language skills, electronic information systems, human relations and communications. Any classes from the certificate program curriculum can be applied to an AAS degree or a specialized certificate. Along with traditional classes Arapahoe Community College offers online, hybrid, and fast-track classes.
Diploma Program in PC Service and Repair At our computer repair school you will be taught what you need to know to take the A+ Certification Exam. This exam is the industry standard for evaluating competency in entry-level PC service. It is better to begin with the ‘guts’ of the PC: components, motherboard, chips, memory and power supplies. Unlike other computer technician schools, at Ashworth you learn about the hard drive, hard disks, floppy drives and files. In addition, you’ll also learn to troubleshoot printers, modems, monitors, keyboards, sound boards, CD-ROM drives and other peripherals.
Certificate Program in Computer Maintenance Technician Throughout the Computer Maintenance Technician program students become skilled in the complex process of installing, configuring, and maintaining all of the components of a computer system network. Computer Network Technicians commonly provide their clients with system maintenance and security, as well as the establishment of policies and protocol for implementing that maintenance and security. On completion of the program, graduates will typically demonstrate in the workplace, mastery in the fundamentals of customer service, person to person communication, critical thinking and problem solving solutions, in addition to stress management.
Courses in PC Troubleshooting The vast majority of the problems people experience with their computers are completely avoidable, and most can be solved with nothing more than a few minutes of your time. This course takes students step by step through the typical hardware and operating system problems encountered by technicians, teaching troubleshooting techniques to decipher any problem, and giving the skills one needs to solve them. After learning the basics, the participants of the course study some of the more advanced and nasty problems that crop up in the PC, and learn to diagnose and fix those problems as well! Finally, Intro to PC Troubleshooting shows how to maintain and optimize a Windows PC.
Certificate Program in Help Desk Analyst: Tier 1 Support Specialist Help Desk Analyst: Tier 1 Support Specialist is nationally recognized online course and training program. It teaches the skills that students must acquire to be successful as a Help Desk Analyst. Tutorials and projects will teach the student the practical uses of Help Desk Analyst skills.
Certificate Program in Help Desk Specialist This certificate program prepares the student to become a support technician who will provide hands-on technical assistance such as computer repair and software installation. This certificate also prepares the student for industry certification. High tech companies have a continuing need for trained customer support specialists to staff the help desk; answering customer calls and providing timely assistance in solving technical problems.
Certificate Program in IT Support Tech The IT Helpdesk Support Technicians program prepares students to provide desktop and basic network support to customers in a corporate setting. It is an intensive and hands-on lecture experience that develops technical skills and knowledge about the effective operation and support of personal computers. The curriculum of the program includes such courses as A+ Certification, Network+ 2005 Certification, Server+ 2005 Certification, Linux+ 2005 Certification, and MCDST Certification. On completion of the program, students will have skills in installing, configuring, testing, and supporting PC hardware and software. Other skills the graduates will have are the ability to analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems in order to solve an array of problems, from simple user errors to sophisticated hardware issues.
Certificate Program in Help Desk - User Support Technician The Help Desk/User Support Technician certificate is designed to provide lower level tech support skills needed to assist customers, clients, or members of a firm or organization. Graduates field telephone calls, and email messages from customers seeking guidance on technical problems. They diagnose the problem patiently and walk the customer through the problem-solving steps. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are needed. Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites. Students enrolled in this certificate program must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree. The certificate is offered at all seven campuses.
Associate in Applied Science in Personal Computer Support This Associate in Applied Sciences degree in Computer Information Technology – Personal Computer Support trains the student to troubleshoot software and hardware problems, implementing corrections where possible; to evaluate new software and hardware; to install hardware and software, including equipment assembly and diagnostics; and to assist in the development and presentation of training courses for users. The graduate of the program will be qualified to provide support for personal computer users in a corporate environment. Students pursuing this degree are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites. At least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation have to be earned through instruction by the college awarding the degree. The AAS in Computer Information Technology – Personal Computer Support is offered at all DCCCD seven campuses.
