What is Associate Degrees?

 

Associate's Degree: Overview

Associate's degree programs are considered as a milestone in an individual’s career. After this degree an individual can choose his/her career in specific field .The duration of this degree is about two years .The individuals can enroll at a school and take about 20 classes within a specific curriculum designed by the school. The Associate's Degree usually consists of 60 credit hours or the equivalent of the first two years of college coursework.

 

Many US colleges offer Associate Degrees within different specified fields.

Associated degrees can be occupational or vocational degrees. These degrees train the student in a specific skill. There are transfer degrees as well for students who want to switch into a 4-year college or university.

 

Courses in Associate Programs

Programs at the associate's degree level focus on the art and design, business, communication, drafting, law enforcement, construction, electronics, social work and healthcare technology. Many organizations want the applicants to be at least an associate's degree holder, especially those in the field of technician and medical healthcare.  An Associate's degree enhances the potential of an individual and his/ her career growth.

 

Associate degree programs usually take two years, as compared to the Bachelor’s degree. They are considered as an extension to the degree program however a Bachelor’s degree is the minimum level of required education needed to be employed in any field These fields include business, health sciences, education and humanities categories.
