Associate of Arts in Communication The Associate of Arts in Communication is now offered to help students with professional aspirations to perfect their oral and written communication skills. Throughout the degree program, students will learn about interpersonal, intercultural and media communication, gender differences in communication, communication ethics, and small group communication. Students in this program are exposed to historical speeches, communication theory, and practical preparation for presentations. On completion of this degree program, graduates will be able to prepare and deliver a presentation appropriate to a selected communication setting or event; apply relevant techniques to interpersonal and/or intercultural communication; demonstrate knowledge of the history, models, theories, and concepts of mass communication; demonstrate an understanding of the ethics of communication, the dynamics and processes of small group communication, and the issues and dynamics of communication between genders, and much more. Graduates of the program may apply this degree toward the completion of requirements for any related Bachelor’s degree where oral communication is a consideration.
Associates Degree in Speech Communication The field of study curricula and the core curricula are intended to facilitate transferability of courses among Texas public colleges and universities. The set of courses is designed to graduation in associate degree of General Communication/Communication Studies/Speech Communications/Speech & Rhetorical Studies/Organizational Communication. The field of study curriculum is furthermore intended to serve as a guide for community and technical colleges in structuring a transfer curriculum in General Communication/Communication Studies/Speech Communication/Speech & Rhetorical Studies/Organizational Communication.
Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Writing and Technical Communication In the Multimedia Writing and Technical Communication Program, students will learn how to produce, to design, and to manage information, using both traditional and developing technologies.
