Plant Sciences

 

Plant science is the study of the growth, reproduction, structure, evolution and classification of plants. Many different degree programs are available, including a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science, a Master of Science in Plant Science and a Ph.D. in Plant Science. These programs are very broad, and include classes on scientific classification, plant anatomy, plant nutrition, soil properties and crop development. Students also learn about plant health, irrigation techniques and plant breeding.

 

Those trained in plant science can work in several different industries. The pharmaceutical industry uses many different plants to make medication; knowledge of the way plants affect animals is helpful. The food industry uses plant scientists to increase the nutritional content of edible plants and increase crop efficiency. Plant scientists may also work for government agencies or agriculture products companies.

 

Universities and colleges offer associate, bachelor's and master's degrees in Laboratory Sciences. Degree and certificate programs in Laboratory Sciences determine the level of pay, type of work and room for advancement.

 

The basics of a Behavioral Health Sciences degree program teach skills for becoming a counselor, respite care worker, case manager or family advocate Students earning a Behavioral Health Sciences degree learn psychology, counseling and therapy techniques.

 

Employment outlook for careers in Behavioral Sciences depends on level of education, geographical location and career choice. There are many career options for a person with formal education in Behavioral Science. The overall employment outlook for careers in Behavioral Science is positive.

 

A Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences could lead to a myriad of career opportunities, including positions in counseling, law enforcement, healthcare and government. Some Social Sciences degree programs encourage students to choose one of the major disciplines in Social Sciences, but others incorporate two or more disciplines. The five major Social Sciences divisions are anthropology, sociology, psychology, history and political science.
