TESOL Distance Diploma
The TESOL Distance Diploma is for students who want to teach English to speakers of other languages and designed for those wishing to complete the diploma by distance education. This program provides courses in foundations of TESOL instruction, teaching grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, speaking and listening. There are also 25 hours of practice teaching as part of a practicum course. Students progress through the courses with the support and instruction of experienced, skilled teacher trainers aided by online discussion forums and weekly tasks.
Students are expected to be able to organize their studies independently and meet assignment deadlines. They are supported in this by communicating with their instructors and classmates via the MOODLE online platform to discuss course content, listen to audio tapes, watch classroom demonstrations, answer quizzes, access readings, complete weekly tasks and participate in group projects. Instructors are available through the online course, via e-mail and phone office hours.
